New Approach to Teens Age Division

2/10/20 Update:
We have closed registration for our Teens age division. We currently have 18 players who have signed up to play, which is the max number of players we can have on a team. If you are still interested in playing, please go ahead and sign up on the wait list at the registration link below. If we have somebody withdraw from the team and a spot becomes available, we will contact the people on the wait list to see if they are still interested in playing. If we have enough people sign up on the wait list to create another team, and if we can find a coach for the second team, we will contact you to let you know. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected].

HCS is making a big change in the way we approach our Teens age division:
we have decided to join the West Central Suburban Soccer Federation (wcssf.org).

The WCSSF is a federation of soccer clubs in the local area that provides what is now called select soccer and what used to be called rec plus, where the participating clubs can play rec games with each other. You can see a list of the participating clubs here: https://www.wcssf.org/websites/.

Logistically speaking, this will mean that the games will not fall within the normal parameters for HCS. Games will be scheduled by WCSSF. There will be 8 games per season, plus a tournament. Our understanding is that four of those games will be home games, and the other four will involve travel to the fields of the local clubs that we will be playing. The tournament has been held at Ben Davis for the past several seasons, and will likely continue into the future. Games will be held on all days of the week. Weekday games will be in the afternoon/evening. Saturday games are usually noon or later, and Sunday games are usually 2pm or later.

WCSSF is run through Indiana Soccer (soccerindiana.org). Since HCS is not a member of Indiana Soccer, TriWest Soccer Club (triwestyouthsoccer.com) has graciously agreed to allow us to register our Teens teams under their organization

Please be aware that each player who registers will be required to submit their birth certificate to Indiana Soccer, even though most players have already done so for HCS. This will be necessary for Indiana Soccer to verify the players’ ages in order to issue the required player cards.

The WCSSF rules are very specific that teams need to be created in such a way as to make them as equally matched as possible. Because of the WCSSF rules about team creation, there is more of a chance that we will not be able to honor all coach and player requests. Because of team size specifications, there is also the possibility that once the teams are maxed out, we may not be able to take any further registrations. This means that the earlier you register, the more likely your player will have a spot on a team.

We will likely need one more coach for our Teens age division, so if you are interested in coaching, please let us know as soon as you can by emailing us at [email protected].

The WCSSF spring schedule closely aligns with the HCS spring schedule. April 10, 2020, is the opening day of games, and the last day of games is May 10th. The tournament for 19U is May 13th – May 17th. There will be no games scheduled for Easter (4/12) or Mother’s Day (5/10), but those dates can be used for make-up games if necessary.

Hopefully we covered all the pertinent info regarding our new approach to the Teens age division. If you have any questions, please let us know by emailing us at [email protected].
